Life During the San Sin High School Summer English Program

As part of the teachers' daily tasks they would arrive at the school early, and teach class from 8:20 am until 11:50 am. Afterwards they would convene for lunch. Afternoons were spent either at the school working on special projects, studying for the next day, spending time with host families, or exploring a new place in Kaohsiung (often as a group of teachers or with host families).

A typical weekly schedule

The San Sin HIgh School lobby.

San Sin High School has eight floors.

In the teacher office, where we had lunch every day.

The school provided the lunches, and Mr. Shih went and got them for us.

Students gathering for class.

The east wing of the school.

Ball fields and a view to the north and west sides of the school, with a school bus in the foreground.

Students love having pictures taken with their teachers.

And they also love to pose with their teaching assistants.

A hallway built for earthquake shocks. But it is empty because...

Class is in session!
